Done in a Bontempi style, Glurp is a crazy album: Monsieur Orange took his keyboard, programmed beats and rhythms, and wrote lyrics to complete his songs. The spirit of the disc is very close to what Daniel Johnston did with his early tapes; the music itself is even more minimalist. And humor is present throughout the album in the sound of the Bontempi, but also in the lyrics. For influences, one has to check with singers like Brel and Gainsbourg. But Monsieur Orange created a world of his own, a world that makes him not a follower of these two, but someone with a strong identity. And if his songs, simple as nursery rhymes, refer to the adult world with the words of children, the addition of puns and jokes a child could not possibly make create a distortion in the apparently naïve universe of the singer.
