Apparently, poor distribution and a lack of money prevented Side Effects of Thinking from being an instant classic upon its original 1990 release. Although this album doesn't exactly live up to the hype that Panic Button provides, Moral Crux was ahead of their time as they provided an angst-filled edge of pop-punk. Accompanied by an aggressive West Coast influence of early '80s punk, this debut album is a nice surprise from Panic Button's usual array of sugar coated Ramones-pop. Best listened to when one has worn out their collection of DI records.
