[Edit]After retiring the My Favorite name in 2005 when Andrea Vaughn left the group, Michael Grace, Jr. and the rest of the group went on to form the Secret History. Fans experienced no drop-off in quality whatsoever, but the whole synth pop angle was abandoned in favor of a more organic, more dramatic style. Fast forward to 2014 and with the Secret History's future in question, My Favorite was back with new singers and a new single. Was it worth the wait? Yes! "Dance with a Stranger" is a stately, achingly romantic synth pop ballad the likes of which Neil Tennant only wishes he could still write; "Second Empire" is a slinky, seductive charmer of a song that takes its time getting finished and is topped off by a swooning sax solo. It's only two songs, but it's a triumphant return that should leave fans of the band in a gleeful state, while giving fans of modern synth pop a new band to love.
