Ramani and mrdangum virtuoso Trichy Sankaran join forces for Lotus Signatures, a richly detailed collection of traditional songs reinterpreted with unusual depth and vitality. Musicologists will especially appreciate the use of indigenous instruments like the kanjira (lizard-skin frame drum), the ghatam (clay pot) and the little-heard morsing (jaw harp).
