Nancy Rumbel is a truly gifted new age instrumentalist. Her collaborations with Eric Tingstad are legendary and superb. Notes From the Tree of Life is her first solo project and it is a gem. While Rumbel does not intend for it to be hypnotic, it is. Her sound design, composition, and performance skills are at their peak on this disc. There are no weak spots. Her supporting players are also very gifted; their contributions meld deftly and seamlessly with Rumbel's winds and keyboards. But this disc is truly Rumbel's; the whole project oozes with her charm, grace, style, class, and beauty. And her fun-loving mischievous side is all over the CD, too. This is a classic CD, essential for all serious new age music collectors. It will appeal to fans of David Darling, Hans Christian, Lisa Lynne, Diane Arkenstone, and Kitaro.
