[Edit]While they share a similar sound to the leading worship acts of their era, Jesus Culture and Hillsong United, New Hope O'Ahu bring a distinct Hawaiian flavor to their live worship events, although you only get a taste of it on this album. O'Ahu's live audio debut, Hope Is Alive, can't capture the group's dynamic live show, which features regional dancing and more Hawaiian shirts than a Jimmy Buffett concert, but check the Polynesian lyrics, ukulele, and nylon-string guitars during the key track "How We Worship," and this is identifiably 50th State material. Press Play member Sean Cook is on production, while the likes of Israel Houghton, Ryan Cruse, and Christopher Sanders offer the uplifting songs, most of them focusing on the album's theme of hope.
