Details
[Edit]Nicole Henry is a young singer whose soulful sound (sometimes going a little over the top) and background finds her blurring the boundary lines between jazz and R&B. For this set, she is backed by a little-known but talented trio led by pianist Mike Orta. She performs ten standards and two of her originals, with "Get Here" being particularly memorable. Some of the tunes did not need to be revived once again (such as "Summertime," "That Old Black Magic," and "Over the Rainbow"), since they have already been performed an excessive amount of times, but in general the singer comes up with something fresh to say on each song. Nicole Henry, whose voice is pleasing and passionate, displays strong potential for the future.
