[Edit]Pianist Niels Lan Doky developed quickly in his career to become a leading European jazz pianist. For his third album, he utilizes a quartet with tenor saxophonist Bob Berg, bassist Bo Stief and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington to perform three of his originals, Stief's "Ten Hours Later," and the standard, "I Thought About You." By this time, Lan Doky (still just 23) was advancing beyond hard bop to play in a more adventurous (but still swinging) post-bop style. Recommended, as are Lan Doky's two earlier Storyville releases.
