On Sanctum Sanctorum, Jesse Sola, Numina's one-man sonic universe creator, steps into a whole new sonic realm. Well, it's really not that new for his work, as Numina is quite possibly one of the finest up-and-coming ambient artists working in the genre today. Numina's work has a sonic character that can be likened to the work of Steve Roach or Robert Rich in places, and in other places there's a bit of a Jason Sloan and Vidna Obmana feel, but ultimately this recording sounds as though it's exclusively the work of Numina. Of particular interest are the lush and cavernously resonant tones that Numina so carefully chooses for each one his tracks. Truly, Numina's ability to carefully choose timbre after timbre and then so carefully and thoughtfully fuse them together is one of his greatest gifts and, with an output of almost three records a year, there's certainly a wealth of music available. Sanctum Sanctorum is Numina's finest work to date and certainly the first one you should add to your collection, if you don't already own any of his finely crafted previous works.
