Details
[Edit]Recorded at the 1987 annual convention of the Duke Ellington Society, this is a trio outing by the cool-toned tenor saxophonist Fraser MacPherson, pianist Oliver Jones and bassist Neil Swainson. They perform respectful and somewhat predictable renditions of 13 Ellington-associated songs. Although MacPherson gets top billing, Jones consistently steals the show. Among the selections performed are "Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me," "Things Ain't What They Used to Be," "I Didn't Know About You" and "In a Mellotone." Pleasing if safe music.
