[Edit]Forever Reign combines the best tracks from One Sonic Society’s first three EPs into an uplifting affirmation of faith. Members Stu Garrard (from the much-loved U.K. worship band Delirious?), Paul Mabury (ex–Hillsong United drummer/producer), and Jason Ingram (writer/producer of hits by numerous Christian artists) emphasize heroic melodic themes and vertical lyric content in this set of atmospheric worship tunes. OSS’s sound is brawny but nuanced, tempering its leanings toward arena rock with a blend of electric and acoustic guitars and sleek rhythmic undercurrents. As a singer, Ingram avoids bombastic testimonies in favor of a softer, more confiding approach. He brings a sustained reverence to his versions of the title song and “Greatness of God” (both previously recorded by Hillsong), as well as newly composed tracks like “As for Me” and “Always.” “Beautiful Savior” and “Now and Forever” shimmer with Garrard’s trademark guitar work, while “Burn” invokes the spirit of a traditional hymn with stately piano and strings.
