[Edit]The sophomore effort from Opus 5, 2012's Pentasonic showcases the adventurous Criss Cross label supergroup's post-bop sound. Once again featured on the album are the talents of group members saxophonist Seamus Blake, trumpeter Alex Sipiagin, pianist David Kikoski, bassist Boris Kozlov, and drummer Donald Edwards. Named after the fact that more than one member brought a 5/4 arrangement to the recording sessions, Pentasonic is ripe with forward-thinking improvisation and nimble group interplay.
