Still in great form after nearly 75 albums, Oscar d'León tried a bit of everything with 2003's Infinito. Recording in Miami, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela with arrangers Yasmil Marrufo, Louis Garcia, and Tomás Bernal, respectively, d'León begins with a vibrant salsa jam named "Como Olvidarte" (also the lead single), then reprises it near the end as a deeply felt bolero (unfortunately, though, the chart is slightly artificial). The master also stretches out on "La Mazucamba," singing with spitfire rhymes on a spry new arrangement of an Orlando de la Rosa composition with a half-century of dust on it. Of course, there's still room for salsa songs with Oscar d'León's exquisite touch, including "Cualquiera," but Infinito ably proves that. Even after three decades of performing, d'León remains an interesting artist.
