[Edit]Pac Div—featuring members Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung—stormed out of SoCal in 2006, earning legions of fans, tons of press, and shoutouts from assorted superstars off the strength of its debut mixtape, Sealed for Freshness: The Blend Tape. Sporting a minimalist sound heavily influenced by old-school pioneers, Pac Div spent the next several years being fawned over by bloggers, fielding multiple major-label deals, performing with icons like Nas and Ice-T, and cranking out more mixtapes and a self-titled EP. The Div is its first proper album, finding the trio doing what it does best: casually rhyming about real life over beats that compellingly blend old and new. "The Greatness" (produced by No I.D.) kicks things off, setting the stage for a dozen tight songs that mix strong storytelling with catchy hooks and witty rhymes galore. Shades of The Pharcyde (especially on "She" and "Brown") and A Tribe Called Quest are definitely in the blend here, though Pac Div also flirts with snap music on "Top Down" and even samples The Golden Girls on the closer, "Thank You."
