[Edit]Following their excellent 2012 EP, Shooting Star, the Brazilian indie poppers Pale Sunday return with another strong outing for Matinee. The Fake Stories About You and Me is another four songs cut from the same melancholy jangle pop cloth bands have been wearing since C-86 was released. The band adds some power pop punch to their sound, too, helping uptempo tracks like “Happy (When You Lived Here)” jump out of the speakers. They also show they can bring the mood down with ease — the EP’s last track, "The Winter Song," is a sad, acoustic guitar-and-violins ballad that tugs at the heart strings gently. Another fine outing from an under-rated indie pop band.
