Details
[Edit]After producing hits for Freddie Jackson, Lilo Thomas and Melba Moore, Paul Laurence assembled an impressive debut album which, unfortunately, never caught on. The first release, "She's Not a Sleaze," showcases Laurence and labelmates Jackson and Thomas. Moderately paced around a seductive rhythm arrangement, the single peaked at #50 on the Billboard R&B charts after nine weeks. Laurence followed with the pop-seasoned ballad "You Hooked Me" and socially charged "Strung Out." The latter barely cracked the Top Ten at #48, his highest-charting single. In spite of excellent production and appealing songs in which the vocals are audible, this album was never able to the turn the corner.
