With their American Revolutionary War schtick, Paul Revere & the Raiders unsurprisingly never made a splash in Great Britain. But a decade and a half after their heyday, the British reissue label Edsel put together this compilation for English distribution. The 15-track album focuses on the 20-month period from August 1965 to April 1967 that marked their peak of popularity and included the singles hits "Steppin' Out," "Just Like Me," "Kicks," "Hungry," "The Great Airplane Strike," "Good Thing," "Ups and Downs," and "Him or Me — What's It Gonna Be?" In addition to these, the collection culls album tracks and B-sides that show a greater musical diversity, even as they find The Raiders echoing many of the musical styles of the day. It's a good distillation of material originally found on the singles and on the gold-selling albums Just Like Us!, Midnight Ride, and The Spirit of '67.
