Details
[Edit]Now at a smaller label after his Sony stint, Pedro Mariano achieved a less electronic expression, with a welcomed, bigger interest in samba. The focus here is soul music, with the arrangements of César Camargo Mariano (Pedro's father) and his interesting conception of samba-funk. There are several songs by Jairzinho Oliveira (formerly of Balão Mágico), an excellent samba by João Bosco/Aldir Blanc ("Profissionalismo é Isso Aí"), and a sensitive moment with "Tem Dó" (Baden Powell/Vinícius de Moraes) — the song, previously recorded by Pedro's mother, the fundamental late singer Elis Regina, makes reference to separations. The patriarch of soul music in Brazil, Cassiano, is evoked in the tender piano canção "Postal," and his "son," the late Tim Maia, in his "Preciso Ser Amado."
