Details
[Edit]Part of the almighty Hieroglyphics collective, Pep Love has long been a fan favorite, known for his dizzying lyricism and show-stealing verses. On The Rigmarole, he presents 17 tracks that demonstrate his undeniable verbal dexterity, with subject matter that focuses on everyday struggles ("I Know This Pain"), crew pride ("Can't Nobody Do It Like Us"), the healing power of music ("Hip Hop My Friend") and the racial divide in the United States ("Runaway Slave"). Somewhat surprisingly and disappointingly, there are no features from any other Hiero members, but Pep confidently carries the album's weight on his own shoulders. Most every track here is strong, but "Freak Rock," "Top O' the Mornin'," "Be," "Cloudy Days," and "iPower" are especially tight. More quality joints from one of the Bay's brightest emcees.
