This budget LP does not bother to list its recording dates or personnel and clarinetist Pete Fountain is actually a sideman rather than the leader but the music is wonderful with plenty of exciting ensembles. A variety of local New Orleans greats (including trumpeters Alvin Alcorn and Tony Almerico and trombonist Jack Delaney) star along with Fountain on definitive versions of such songs as "Sidewalks of New York," "Hindustan," "Till We Meet Again" and "Sensation." Fans of Dixieland are well-advised to search for this hot music.
