Details
[Edit]Savoring his recovery from major heart surgery in 2009, Peter Case went into the studio with drummer DJ Bonebrake of X and guitarist Ron Franklin of Gasoline Silver and cut live to two-inch tape this twelve-track album that sounds like a rockabilly-blues band having fun on the weekends. The sound is thick with tremolo-ed guitars and greasy beats that come from the ‘50s dirtiest blues records. Throw in a vocal delivery that tips towards the late Lux Interior of the Cramps and the tunes take on an otherworldly quality. “Dig What You’re Putting Down” is the sound of a hard-rockin’ trio enjoying their work. “Thirty Days In The Workhouse” is the sound of an iron-hard road gang taking it to the streets. “Ain’t Got No Dough” is an ageless, rough-and-tumble rockabilly number for the working man. “Somebody Told The Truth” slows things down for a funky swamp blues number. Case is in gritty form. Bonebrake is relentless and Franklin colors within the lines, just barely, for this ragged celebration of life.
