Piebald's five-track The Rock Revolution Will Not Be Televised EP is also their first release with drummer Alex Garcia Riviera behind the kit. Serving up yet another dose of their typical emo pop flair, this record doesn't wander too far from the successful formula perfected on the preceding If It Weren't for Venetian Blinds LP. There's a not-so-successful attempt at comedy on the record's only real low point, the bumbling "David Lee Rock," but the overall product is fairly enticing. The opening rock of "American Hearts" is an instantly catchy singalong, and the album's title track also serves as its rousing endnote, complete with acoustic guitars, a catchy chorus, and proof that lead singer Travis Shettel really can sing in a normal range. Piebald seems to have found their niche on this record and to their credit they do it all quite well. It's doubtful that this short record could ever prompt its own rock revolution, but they seem to be more than content just singing about it. This EP is pretty far from the group's best work, but it's still a solid record that works well both as an introduction to the group and as a nice addition to their fan's collections. ~ Peter J.
