[Edit]Now this is a match made in heaven: Pigface's Easy Listening... album — plus two older tracks — and the "kickasserole" remix team DJ? Acucrack. Sure Pigface are being overly indulgent by releasing no less than four remix albums since 2003 — Head, Dubhead, Clubhead Nonstopmegamix #1, and now Crackhead — but each does come at the music from a very different angle. If you're concerned about having the money to actually buy a beer the next time Pigface come to town, the loud and ill-behaved Crackhead is the mix to pick out of the bunch. DJ? Acucrack are as fun as they are vicious, combining the Aphex Twin and Revolting Cocks aesthetics with Pigface's sinister and sexy thunder. Some freaky cartoon noises are surprising, and the way the remixers create tension by dropping and holding beats is refreshing. Otherwise, DJ? Acucrack take the easy and instinctive way out. If vocalist Fallon Bowman utters a sexy sentence, you can bet they're gonna loop it. If there's a raging guitar riff, you can bet they're gonna run it through a filter. Predictable, but DJ? Acucrack are such crafty and full-tilt remixers it doesn't matter much. Besides, breaking down Martyn Atkins' rock-solid beats would be a shame. DJ? Acucrack make Easy Listening... busier than it was originally, fold and bunch it up in all the right places, and make it an even better album for stiletto-wearing psycho hot rodders the world over.
