Details
[Edit]With nine songs clocking in at around 15 minutes, Pinhead Gunpowder's Compulsive Disclosure is another short, sharp shot of melodic punk that fans of Green Day's rawer output will want to hold dear. Recorded in the group's 12th year, this extracurricular project for Billie Joe Armstrong and members of Crimpshrine, Monsula, and the Influents is energetic, edgy, and contagious. Blasts like "Buffalo" and "Letter From AOF" are frenzied and distinctive. But there's depth in all this brevity, as a 20-second fit of rage like "Porch" gets offset by an intriguing acoustic tenant/owner dispute called "Landlord." And "At Your Funeral" is a downright pisser, with Armstrong showing so much disdain for an acquaintance that he pledges to bring a cake and pass out cigars to celebrate his nemesis' passing. ~ John D.
