Details
[Edit]A longtime fixture in the Cali underground scene, Planet Asia has been putting in work since the late '90s, repping Fresno to the fullest and flexing his super-lyrical style on dozens of high-quality records. Though he's never quite crossed over to the mainstream, he's worked with just about everybody in the game, was once signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, and was nominated for a GRAMMY back in 2002. He's recorded extensively with Rasco (as the group Cali Agents), Dilated Peoples, Skhool Yard, and Madlib, and he puts out new music at an astonishing clip. High End Cloths finds him joining forces with Los Angeles producers Dirty Diggs, who lace him with an assortment of outstanding, funk-drenched, sample-heavy beats. Vintage soul loops, chunky drums, sweeping strings, and deep bass lines dominate; it's the ideal backdrop for Asia's next-level wordplay. Guests include new jacks Killer Ben, Turbin, Rogue Venom, and Killa Kali, plus Golden State vets like Mac Mall and B-Legit. It's absolutely banging from top to bottom. Don't miss "Pimp Columns," "Gold Chain Cocaine," "The Gods Speak," and "Take Money to Make Money."
