Plumtree did a lot of growing up between this album and their next, This Day Won't Last at All, making the tracks here sound very childish and basic in comparison. Not that it should be sent straight to the garbage heap, though; if anything, it is interesting to see how far they went musically and lyrically in just a matter of years. The guitar chords and drum work are very basic here, but sometimes break the pattern of the CD and become rather clever, as on the short interlude on "Racing Gloves." "I Love U When You're Walkin' Away" is a refreshing change from the fast-paced and rushed sound of the rest of the album, and that two minutes and 30 seconds is truly a highlight, as is the following track, "Fatherhood." The closer, "Your Mouth Shoots Off," is also worth checking out, and it may be the most witty and fantastic song on the whole album. At one moment passive and sweet, the next the complete opposite, the stop-start sound here would be perfected on their later release. So, if you are looking to pick up something from this now-defunct act, This Day Won't Last at All is certainly recommended over this. But if you like what you hear there, by all means pick this up and give it a try.
