A tortured soul who is a dangerous combination of brutish and informed, rapper Prozak is certainly one of the more "serious" artists on Tech N9ne's Strange Music, but he's theatrical enough and dark enough to be right at home on the label. A mention of that cold graveyard wind figures into the opening skit, and the heartbreak number "Tell a Tale of Two Hearts" could be used as evidence should Prozak's ex ever decide to seek a restraining order, but "overly emotional" is a matter of taste and this rapper's skill is way above the "Hulk Mad!" style some of his competition offers. Productions bounce between hip-hop (mostly Mobb Deep dark) and rock-rap (crunchy and compressed) before the final quarter of the album offers a series of soul-searching, guitar-strumming tracks, interrupted only by the excellent "Full Moon," which sounds like "Holla Back Girl" for the zombie set. Shuffle those dour power ballads back into the album and Paranormal is a worthy soundtrack for anytime you feel sour as hell.
