One Thing is Pulse Legion's second release, and a different sound from their debut release, Evolve. Retaining the sharp electronic sound reminiscent of Mentallo and the Fixer, Pulse Legion have added further complexity to their previous cleaner and direct electronic sound. As the sharp electronic pulses recede, dirty acoustics and strong beats come to the foreground, accompanied by harsher distorted vocals. Slow breaks and melodic female vocals break the feel and provide a vivid contrast. The feel of the release is very solid aggressive electro, with an additional layer of fuzz and noise. One Thing provides a new approach to harsh electro during a time that there have been only a few releases in that genre (mainly, Wumpscut) due to the domination of European synth pop sounds. However, while sporting a complex, strong sound, the tracks on the release do not vary in sound a great deal. This may tire some listeners, but One Thing presents a good alternative for listeners looking for a harsh yet melodic electronic sound that does not make the final cross over into power noise.
