Details
[Edit]This European reissue of (unattributed) Mercury Records sessions finds Dinah Washington fronting a band of eight or ten pieces (depending on the track) performing Quincy Jones arrangements of standards like "I Could Write A Book" and "I Get A Kick Out Of You." The band includes the likes of Clark Terry on trumpet, Paul Quinichette on tenor saxophone, Wynton Kelly on piano, and Jimmy Cobb on drums, and the jazz content is high, with many of the instrumentalists getting lengthy solos. Washington fits right in, rendering the lyrics with her usual precision and feeling. "I Diddie" (called "I Diddle" here) was an R&B chart hit.
