Details
[Edit]Recorded live in two New Orleans churches shortly before Christmas 1996, this does capture the emotion of contemporary gospel in its natural context. Myles is a serviceable singer in the Al Green mold, sometimes breaking up the songs with sermonizing about contemporary issues. (In "More From the Medley," he disses hit rappers with the proclamation, "I got something Hammer can't touch/I got something that Snoop can't touch, and it's Jesus!") There's no place for synthesizers in gospel music, though, and some of the tracks are afflicted with them. The leadoff track, Myles' own composition "Jesus Is the Baddest Man in Town," isn't as humorous or inventive as you might think from the title. It's a long disc, weighing in at 65 minutes.
