[Edit]Ran Blake has long been a very emotional pianist whose use of space and sometimes-thunderous outbursts are always stimulating if unpredictable. For this set he performs solos and duets with the straightforward but very effective vocalist Christine Correa, alternating stirring versions of standards with five of his songs. Among the more memorable selections are "Angel Eyes," "Drop Me off in Harlem," "The Short Life of Barbara Monk," "Long as You're Living" and "I Get a Kick Out of You." Thought-provoking music.
