Details
[Edit]Raphy Leavitt's second recorded effort continues with the bandleader's pungent, sophisticated writing set up against the band's jerry-built, overall sound. Sammy Marrero's vocals tear up the scenery with credibility, making Leavitt's message even more effective. "Y Vuelvo a Fallar" is the romantic follow-up for the group's smash hit "Payaso." "Destino Humano" is an anthem that refers to human fate. "Soldado" is an anti-war treatise in popular fashion; the title tune is the songwriter's first-person tale about life in Puerta de Tierra (a San Juan borough). No one can preach authenticity and believability in popular song like Raphy Leavitt and La Selecta can. One of the most requested efforts from Puerto Rico's most popular salsa band in the early '70s. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr., Rovi
