Has anyone told the lads in the group Ravage that it's not 1989 anymore? As evidenced by the sounds that abound throughout their 2009 release, End of Tomorrow, the answer is a loud and assuring "NO!" This Boston-based band of metalheads have either carefully studied and mastered playing along to their Testament, Metal Church, and King Diamond records, or they somehow arrived via a time machine with instruments in hand. Either way, for fans of vintage-sounding thrashy yet melodic metal (the thrash coming from the riffs, the melody from the singing), End of Tomorrow is certainly worth a listen, especially given such seemingly blasts from the past like "The Halls of Madness," "Freedom Fighter," and "The Shredder." Is Ravage a parody of an '80s metal band, or are they serious at their "craft"? The jury is still out on that one, but in the meantime, those who still rock the mullet will have a new disc to crank in their Trans Am: End of Tomorrow.
