[Edit]Dream Dancing Medley is the third album in Ray Anthony's dream dance series, tailored for "all who have been eagerly awaiting the next entry in the dream dance field," according to the liner notes. Whether or not you agree that dream dancing constitutes its own field, it is true that Anthony's first such album, Dream Dancing, was very popular and inspired a number of imitators. Anthony's simple concept is that romantic ballads are well-suited for dancing and cozy evenings, and Dream Dancing Medley provides plenty of sentimental tunes in two side-long medleys. The presentation of 15 melodies per side is typical of the regimentation of dance medley albums, but Anthony's pieces flow together as one continuous dreamscape. The absence of breaks between songs sustains the mood for over 20 minutes a side — an attractive feature that sets Dream Dancing Medley apart from its predecessors.
