Details
[Edit]Lady Sings the Blues is the third album from Rebecca Ferguson, who participates here in the centenary of Billie Holiday. No hastily assembled affair, the 17-song set was recorded in Capitol Studios with the works, including strings, horns, and woodwinds. Ferguson was approached to take on the project, even though she wasn't familiar with all the material, yet she puts all of herself into the performances while remaining reverent toward Lady Day. Among the selections are "Summertime," "God Bless the Child," "Stormy Weather," and, of course, "Lady Sings the Blues."
