[Edit]Off the heels of his much heralded Spelunking EP, Detroit-based producer Matt Chicoine returns once again as Recloose to deliver an intense one-two punch of a single, surely a teaser for his upcoming full-length album due out on Planet E sometime in 2001. The first side, "Can't Take It," is a vigorous exercise in polyrhythms while maintaining a steady groove; clearly showing Chicoine's versatility to produce music that is suitable for dancing as well as home listening. The flipside, "Absence of One," is a contemplative melancholic composition with a driving melody and dancehall atmosphere. The single once again justifies Recloose's position as a premiere producer in the global electronic music community. Good stuff.
