[Edit]Red Eyed Legends tear off high-energy indie rock on The High I Feel When I'm Low. The first-half of the record is much more entertaining than the last-half. There are two versions of the song "Hamlicus" on this EP, an indoor version and super indoor version, respectively. The decision to include two versions of this song was a good move by Red Eyed Legends, keeping The High I Feel When I'm Low varied and interesting. "Hamlicus [Indoor Version]" is a new wave/punk/indie number that could combine mixes of bands like the Fall and Harriet the Spy. "Hamlicus [Super Indoor Version]" is an enjoyable surprise that moves Red Eyed Legends into interesting area of dub and new wave, flexing influences of the Clash and Joy Division. These influences may be big names to call out, but the Red Eyed Legends have definitely busted out the late '70s/early '80s vinyl before hitting the studio. The High I Feel When I'm Low rips out some Drive Like Jehu/Rye Coalition indie rock, but never really slaps one around enough with emotion or punch to make one sit up straight. In their scattered punk style, Gold Standard issues another decent, lo-fi production with Red Eyed Legends' The High I Feel When I'm Low.
