Naked Wasted (Deluxe Edition)

Describing their songs as “country music with swag” or "LMFAO meets Johnny Cash," Redneck Social Club is Kevin "Frenchie" Sciou and Lex Lipsitz, a former drummer for Shooter Jennings. They're a Big & Rich for the hipster generation. The Music City duo’s Naked Wasted EP kicks off with an instant party anthem blending country and rap. Over a mix that sounds more Brooklyn-based than Nashville-born, the opening title track finds Lipsitz and Sciou swapping rhymes about binge drinking over peripheral banjo picking. It’s a sonic cocktail that actually works amazingly well as further evidenced by “Country Swag,” a strong b-side that features the likeminded musical stylings of the Baxley, Ga., band The Lacs (an acronym for Loud Ass Crackers). Borrowing from Cowboy Troy’s description of “hick-hop,” their fusion of Southern rock and Southern rap fits Redneck Social Club’s sound as snugly as a koozie on a beer can. But the third element that ties this tune together is a sludgy, proto-metal, Black Sabbath–inspired guitar riff. A remix of “Naked Wasted” by Bubba Sparxxx is featured in the deluxe edition.
