Details
[Edit]In this instrumental solo album, Renato Piau presents his own compositions and rich violão playing. The songs comprise blues, choro, samba and folk ballads. Renato is a capable musician, whose harmonic language is simpler and less experimental, but the album is appealing as is. Highlights for great trombonist Raul de Souza in his special appearance ("Variações lights"). Luiz Melodia also appears, and so does Sebastião Tapajós, who refrains himself of shadowing Piau with his mastery. The album has lyrical and swinging qualities and some beautiful themes, appealing for instrumental music lovers who aren't into the most modern and dissonant possibilities of soloing/arranging.
