With a straightforward approach, Renato Vargas reached the hit parades in Brazil. His unpretentious series O Som Do Barzinho, of which this album is the fourth volume, has been selling quite well with an excellent repertoire and simple, correct voice/violão (acoustic guitar) renditions. The albums depart from the concept of the small bar musician in Brazil, which leaves room for the interpretation of classics of the MPB, leaving out the hits of the '80s and '90s. Covering a broad range of composers and styles, from bossa nova ("Apelo," "Gente Humilde," "Samba Do Avião," "Samba Da Bênção," "Ela É Carioca") to Chico Buarque ("Atrás Da Porta," "Gota D'água," "Roda Viva"), from the samba of Paulinho da Viola ("Argumento") to the samba of João Bosco ("O Mestre-sala Dos Mares"), from Dorival Caymmi ("O Samba Da Minha Terra") to Geraldo Pereira ("Falsa Baiana"), the album, which had the audience singing along all the time, documents that the MPB classics are forever.
