Rennie Pilgrem's Thursday Club Recordings label gets the double-disc mix-album treatment for its 50th release, and the result is a solid collection of British breaks, poised halfway between techno and drum'n'bass, with a few electro flashbacks for good measure. Though he recruited DJ Tamsin and 10 Sui to mix (each gets one disc), Pilgrem's deft hand is all over the mix. His Thursday Club project is responsible for a few of the highlights ("Paranoia," "A Place Called Acid") and a few of his better collaboration tracks (with breaks pioneer Arthur Baker and Uberzone) are also included. It's a perfect listen for impatient, genre-spanning dance fans whose tastes range from jungle jump-ups to deep, dubby techno to "Planet Rock"-style electro, all executed with the clean, precise aesthetic favored by those associated with the nu breaks scene.
