[Edit]Ricardo Ray's first album opened a new chapter in Latin music history. His two-trumpet lineup is strong enough to outdo any other group of the time; Ricardo Ray's piano and arranging skills point to a new, iconoclastic approach to the music. The repertoire is versatile enough for the fledgling but highly energetic band. Jams ("Viva Richie Ray"), pachanga medleys, mambo jazz, guajira, and cha cha are thoroughly explored in this outing, the first of this particular band who would reach a devout following over the years. ~ José A.
