Robert Crenshaw — drumming brother of Marshall — shows with this debut outing that strong pop music convictions are a shared family musical trait. Robert delivers an album of tunes either written or co-written by himself (the only exception is a cover of Bacharach-David's "This Guy's in Love with You") that show a fine appreciation for form and content and a masterful way around a hook that stays embedded in your head forever. From the rocking "She's Not You" to the countryish "Put the Bottle Down" to the pop ballad closer "It's Not Over," Crenshaw runs a virtual pop gamut of styles on this disc and every one of them delivers the goods. Other tunes that click on this outing are "Everyone's in Love With You" (co-written with brother Marshall, who also plays guitar on three other tracks), "When the Rain Comes Down" and "All I Want to Do Is Be With You." If you like strong pop tunes with a rock'n'roll edge to them, this is your album.
