It took a few years for Rodney Hunter to complete his first solo album, and it most definitely shows all the signs of being a drawn-out process. You can get some idea without even listening to a single note — just check Hunter's grimace on the cover, which seems to say, "Okay, I guess it's finished now." Nearly every track seems to have been toiled over to a great extent — depending on the track, Hunter — who does everything, vocals excepted — either reached near perfection or sucked out the life. This is the kind of downtempo dance music that will inevitably be described as funky or dubby or soulful, but it's far too slick to be classified as funk, dub, or soul. Listeners who have come to anticipate every new G-Stone release should be pleased with what they hear. If anything, it's groovy. Others, however, will probably find that what they hear goes in one ear and slides right out the other.
