Details
[Edit]Hailing from Detroit, Royce da 5'9" hit the scene in the mid-'90s and linked up with fellow D resident Eminem in '97, forming the shock-rap duo Bad Meets Evil and dropping a dope single called "Nuttin' to Do" b/w "Scary Movies" on the Game label. After Em got signed to Aftermath, Royce appeared on The Slim Shady LP and ghostwrote for Dre's 2001. Then he got into a beef with D12 and Em and seemed destined for a lifetime in indie-rap purgatory. But they reconciled after Proof's murder and have since worked together extensively. Released in 2010, The Revival is a four-song EP that finds Royce in triumphant mode, his career back on track and bigger than ever thanks to the success of his group Slaughterhouse (which appears here on "Warriors"). The jump-off joint "Gun Harmonizing" (a mix of classical and high-powered artillery) is absolutely explosive, while "Street Hop 2010" showcases his undeniable lyrical dexterity and sly sense of humor, with great references to Chris Jericho and Marlon Brando.
