Rusty Crutcher has used some of the world's most mysterious and storied sites as inspiration for a series of CDs dedicated to the native cultures of those sites. He spent almost two years gathering inspiration and creating the music for Chaco Canyon. Indeed, he recorded the nature samples on-site, primarily at equinoxes and solstices from May 1988 through August 1990. These languid atmospheres capture the intrigue and mystery surrounding the culture that inhabited this area of the American Southwest. Crutcher combines traditional ethnic instruments with synthesizers and field recordings to portray the beauty as well. The soundscapes are full of eerie passages, and the depth of spirit is infinite. This CD will appeal to fans of John Huling, Michael Stearns, R. Carlos Nakai, and Douglas Spotted Eagle.
