Details
[Edit]Just Sadistik Exekution's fourth full-length release in a decade-and-a-half, F**k represents some of the most extreme, over-the-top metal being made — by anyone's standards, and that is pretty remarkable for a band this far into its career. The CD booklet — which shows pictures of self-mutilated forearms, a pit bull wearing a pentagram necklace, and numerous shots of the bandmembers in performance with blood dripping all over their bodies — gives some idea of the overall aesthetic at work. This was not a band that did things halfway. In fact, their incessant use of the word "f**k" throughout this album is one of the more conservative things about it. That said, this recording does an excellent job of bringing out the reckless intensity of the band's music: The drums are harsh, often sounding like jackhammers (especially in light of the ridiculously fast speeds at which they are often played), while the guitars are raw and suitably grime-caked, meshing well with vocalist Rok's scab-throated vocals. Two of the best songs, "Spiritual Dynamix" and "Sister Valerie," are actually old ones, dating back to the late '80s, while a couple of the (presumably) newer songs suffer from a bit of laziness in either the riff-writing and/or the lyrics. (The band has never aspired to quaint, high-class poetry, but after awhile, Rok's relentless cursing diatribes begin to feel like a shtick.) Those minor gripes aside, the performances here are anything but lazy, displaying a maniacal, unhinged type of energy that is rarely matched. Ultimately, that's what makes Sadistik Exekution special, and that would be the reason to buy this album.
