Stateside Sessions aims to highlight some of the U.S.'s top drum'n'bass DJs, a truly anomalous breed in the early 2000s. Small pockets of drum'n'bass scene proliferated in various urban areas on the East and West Coast, primarily in San Francisco, New York, and Philadelphia. But that's about it. Every city has its handful of aspiring drum'n'bass DJs, but few of them are popular enough to warrant a nationally distributed CD. Sage is one of the few exceptions. First of all, she comes from San Francisco and its relatively thriving drum'n'bass scene. Secondly, she's somewhat of an iconic DJ, not only female but also glamorous, beautiful, and a model. And besides all this, she can spin an intense set, topped off by Bad Company's "Breathe," a huge track with her singing the vocals. It's a great peak for this impressive mix album. Given the shortage of mix albums featuring stateside drum'n'bass DJs, this inaugural Stateside Sessions mix certainly stands out.
