[Edit]Asim Saha is best known to aficionados of new age music as a founding member of the German East-West fusion group Tri Atma, to which he contributes both his lively tabla playing and his Indian musical sensibilities. He is also a tireless ambassador of his own native culture, and on this 60-minute release he showcases numerous styles of Indian music. The first half of the album is based on classical Indian music, beginning with the 23:19 tour de-force "Yoga Meditation," which features the sarod — along with tabla, flute, etc. — in a meditative but engaging fusion of elements from different ragas. The second part features several styles of music derived from folklore sources — such as a bridal song, a snake charmer piece, and festival music from the annual Holi festival. The result is a fascinating interweaving of both vocal and instrumental music from geographically and culturally diverse parts of India. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
