Details
[Edit]An excellent Dixieland trumpeter, Sammy Duncan is heard on two sessions (one-and-a-half albums' worth of material) in two overlapping bands from the mid-'70s. Duncan, who is joined by Charlie Bornemann or Skip Derringer on trombone and clarinetist Herman Foretich, sticks to warhorses but makes them sound fresh and swinging. Although not a highly original soloist, Duncan's brand of goodtime music is infectious. Among the songs that his sextet plays are "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," "Wolverine Blues," "Some of These Days," and "Struttin' With Some Barbecue." Easily recommended to Dixieland fans.
